Preserving, Restoring, & Revitalizing Rail Service

SINCE 2003

Moving The Railway Future Forward

Western Carolina Railway Service Corporation is a privately held South Carolina corporation organized in 2003 for the purpose of preserving, restoring, and revitalizing rail service in both South and North Carolina.

Our Three-Part Mission

Preservation

Protect the future of our local economy by ensuring the longevity of existing rail service in both Carolinas through the preservation of service.

Restoration

Provide new infrastructure to promote opportunities for future economic growth through the restoration of rail service to areas without service.

Revitalization

Offer products and services not currently offered by existing carriers.

Keeping The Economy On Track

Community growth hampers the availability of right-of-way on which to build new railroad, which is why it is imperative to protect existing lines and restore defunct infrastructure before the very growth that drives our economy hinders the ability to move goods and provide services in a given area.

At Western Carolina Railway Service Corporation, we are committed to providing freight rail services to the Carolinas through the next century and beyond.

The Most Efficient Mode of Transportation

Did you know America’s railroads can move one ton of freight nearly 500 miles* on just one gallon of fuel?

If just 10% of long-distance freight that is currently moved on highways switched to rail, greenhouse gas emissions would fall by more than 20 million tons annually. That’s the equivalent of removing 4 million cars from our highways or planting 300 million trees.

You can learn more about what America’s freight rail network can do for you through the Association of American Railroads’ website.
